1. Is the boarding house safe?

Yes. Safety is a priority at Kaziw Meta. Each dormitory has dedicated House Parents, and we also use a range of security and supervision measures including cameras in common areas, alarms, swipe access controls, and clear procedures for after hours support. 

Yes. Our kitchen team is made up of Torres Strait Islander cooks who take pride in preparing healthy, filling meals that boarders enjoy. We regularly include local favourites and cultural foods, and we also run special cooking experiences from time to time, including traditional cooking activities and community style meals. 

Yes. Boarding is a place to build lifelong friendships and create memories you will carry with you well beyond school. We keep students engaged with a strong routine, plenty of activities, and regular outings. Our staff focus on strong values, respect, and supporting each other through the ups and downs of boarding life. 

Absolutely. Culture is central to who we are and it is reflected in daily life at Kaziw Meta. We support cultural learning, language, and performance opportunities, including our dance program. Students perform at local community events, visiting cruise ship opportunities when available, and occasional interstate experiences. NAIDOC Week is also a key annual celebration where culture is shared, strengthened, and celebrated with the wider community.
